Ponyo

Last weekend, my wife, myself and two kids were looking for a kids movie to attend. We read raving reviews of Ponyo, the new ulrta-natural love story between a fish- girl with a boy. All critic reviews were off the charts. Disney bought rights to the movie and it carries the Disney name, although the animation is very different than a Pixar film. So, the consumer reviews were very mixed, even with many people stating that it was the most boring film they've ever seen, "don't take your kid to this movie", and other very negative comments. I have to say, that I was weeping like a baby. The images were beautiful, and the story touching. From the first image on the screen, my eyes auto-widened in an attempt to carry more pixels from either end of kaleidoscope. I love Pixar, and other disney films, oldie classics like Jungle Book, but this was entirely unique. I welcome viewing more Miyazaki films. I was sooo happy to see this.
